Makan in Hong Kong
MAKAN IN HONG KONG EPISODE 1: POLOLI. featuring STEPHANIE KUDUS
“And then I hit my 25th birthday and I was like, you know, am I gonna keep doing this, what am I doing?”
Since spending summer school as a teen in Hawaii, Singaporean Stephanie Kudus wanted to be a chef. But when she first came to Hong Kong for work about ten years ago, those dreams had to be left on the shelf. In this first ever episode of Makan in Hong Kong, find out how Steph came back to her first love - food - and what led her to introduce a Hawaiian classic to a Hong Kong and Singaporean palette!
PS: Did we mention one of the most popular flavours at Pololi is... sambal?
Makan in Hong Kong is a brand new video series produced in collaboration between the Singapore Association in Hong Kong and the Singapore Consulate-General in Hong Kong. Singapore and Hong Kong are cities with much in common, including a passion for good food. Launched in 2021, Makan in Hong Kong hopes to shine a spotlight on the people and places serving up food that Singaporeans here know and love. Through this video series, we hope to introduce our tastes and culture to our friends in Hong Kong, and also to give our fellow Singaporeans a guide to where you can go should you miss flavours from home!
OPEN CALL: If you are a Singaporean F&B owner, chef, baker, homecook in Hong Kong, or just know someone who fits the bill, send us a private message or email us at email@example.com with the subject title “Makan in Hong Kong”! We’d love to feature you and your wonderful food as part of this series!
